On Wednesday morning we visited the city of Orange, when it has its outdoor market, and to see the Roman Theatre. The theatre was built in the 1st century AD during the reign of Augustus. It is the most complete roman theatre in the world and it was an impressive sight. While listening to the history of the theatre on headsets we had the pleasure of watching a group of school kids being taught the finer points of how to fight like a gladiator.

Afterwards we had time to leisurely stroll through Orange's huge outdoor market and shop till we drop. Anything could be sold at the market such as traditional items like fabrics, olives and cheeses to the more modern items like jeans and gaudy t-shirts. Heather and I split a bag of cherries , the first of the season, which were full of flavor and absolutely delicious.

After we left Orange we stopped at some beautiful poppy fields for a photo shoot before heading back to La Sabranenque. We were blessed to have noted international model Jingyu pose for us.

After lunch we would be working on the old guard tower, which was on the hillside above St. Victor but below the castle. We all gathered near the stone building were all the supplies were kept and made our way past the medieval church, through the archway, and up the path to the worksite.

The work consisted of clearing the growth and dirt from the guard tower walls, digging out dirt, bushes and rocks which had accumulated within the uncovered guard tower, and clearing the general area around the guard tower and other stone structures around the site. It was hard, time consuming work but it was fun working with each other, and the views from the hillside were magnificent.
