After our usual breakfast fare of bread, jam, yogurt and occasionally leftover fruit, we headed back to the guard tower to continue clearing the area of overgrown vegetation, roots, rocks and more rocks.
Heather and I worked on the tower wall with Heather, at one point, on her stomach hanging over the wall clearing the side of roots, etc. Sorry but no pictures of that sight. Jeff was working on the outer wall and discovered what was once a doorway, and Jen and Cathy were swinging those pick axes clearing roots left and right. No one messed with those girls from L.A. The rest of the gang was busy clearing shrubs, roots and more rocks.

On our way down from the worksite, Ginou would burn all of the shrub we cleared that day at the entrance to the footpath. Suffice it to say, after our hard days of work, we could have supplied the town with enough power to last weeks!

After a superb lunch we headed to the Chartreuse de la Valbonne, a Carthusian monastery founded in 1204. We were taken on a tour of the monastery and learned of how the monks use to live in isolation, silence and prayer their whole lives. Not for me I must confess. We spent some money at the gift shop, I had to buy a small bottle of Chartreuse, then headed to the Cascades du Sautadet outside of La Roque sue Ceze. The cascades, which are 5 million years old, were formed by the river Ceze carving out channels and cavaties in the soft limestome.

We then returned to La Sabranenque, were we usually had a little down time to relax or wander around before another delicious, traditional Provencal meal.
After dinner a group of us (Yoann, Jen and Cathy, Heather and Jingyu, Mary and Caitlin, and myself) decided to go to the local pub in the newer St. Victor. We had a good time listening to the few American songs the jukebox had to offer, and just took time to unwind and have fun together.
